Dear Members of the Korean Society for Composite Materials,
As we welcome the dawn of 2025, I am genuinely delighted to embark on this hopeful journey with all of you. Over the past 37 years, our Society has been at the forefront of research and technology in composite materials across the aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, and energy industries. Notably, as composite materials emerge as essential components for achieving carbon neutrality, driving innovation in the space industry, and advancing next-generation mobility, the role of our Society in bridging academia and industry has become more critical than ever.
As President, I am committed to serving with dedication and pursuing the following goals:
First, sustainable growth.
Our Society aims to surpass 6,000 members this year by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement. Through conferences and workshops, we will create platforms where early-career researchers and industry professionals can connect, communicate, and grow together.
Second, deepening industry-academia-research collaboration.
Through flagship events such as the Spring and Fall Academic Conferences and specialized workshops, we will actively foster practical technology exchange. We will also lead efforts to expand the application of composite materials to new industries, establish a domestic materials ecosystem, and pioneer new markets.
Third, providing spaces for rest and connection.
We recognize the importance of fostering understanding, inspiration, and camaraderie among our members. In addition to conferences and workshops, we will introduce small-scale exchange programs to offer members a welcoming space to relax, interact, and find renewed motivation. Our goal is to make the Society more than just a research hub—transforming it into a source of rejuvenation and inspiration for our members.
In 2025, your passion and dedication will be more vital than ever as we strive for academic and industrial achievements that showcase excellence and contribute to making the world a better place. I kindly ask for your continued support and engagement as we work toward an even greater vision for our Society.
Thank you very much.
January 2025
Sung-Ho Yoon
The 24th President
