About KSCM

The Korean Society for Composite Materials (KSCM), founded in 1988, is a not-for-profit membership organization that has established itself as the primary society in Korea for providing a forum for researchers, educators, manufacturers, engineers and students in the fields of composite materials and structures. KSCM currently has more than 1,700 active members.

Establishment Purpose and Activities

The current institution was founded in 1988, with Haegyong Lee as the first Chairman. The institution operates in accordance with the laws on the establishment and operation of public interests, with the purpose of contributing to the advancement of academia and technology, as well as the promotion of industry, for the general benefit of the society.
The main activities for achieving these objectives include academic activties including hosting of domestic.

Functional composites and structures are essential to the creation of next-generation technologies and cultures in the fourth industrial revolution. Advances in this area will promote human welfare by overcoming global energy and environmental crises and climate change. In addition, new knowledge in this field will facilitate innovative advancements in living necessities, mobile devices, sporting goods, transportation (land, marine, and aerospace), energy and environmental applications, and will aid in the creation of a variety of new competitive industries.

Composites Research is an international, peer-reviewed journal published bi-monthly by the Korean Society for Composite Materials, which provides a forum for researchers, manufacturers and engineers in the field of composite materials and structures. Issues contain articles on all aspects of current scientific and technological progress in this interdisciplinary field. Topics include: mechanical, physical, chemical and other properties of composite materials; experimental and theoretical studies relating microscopic to macroscopic behavior; testing and evaluation; novel techniques for composite processing and forming structures using these materials; design and analysis for specific applications. Composites Research publishes original research papers, review articles, technical papers and short notes.

Advanced Composite Materials, a bi-monthly publication of the Japan Society for Composite Materials and the Korean Society for Composite Materials, provides an international forum for researchers, manufacturers and designers who are working in the field of composite materials and their structures. Issues contain articles on all aspects of current scientific and technological progress in this interdisciplinary field. The topics of interest are physical, chemical, mechanical and other properties of advanced composites as well as their constituent materials; experimental and theoretical studies relating microscopic to macroscopic behavior; testing and evaluation with emphasis on environmental effects and reliability; novel techniques of fabricating various types of composites and of forming structural components utilizing these materials; design and analysis for specific applications.
Advanced Composite Materials publishes refereed original research papers, review papers, technical papers and short notes as well as some translated papers originally published in the Journal of the Japan Society for Composite Materials. Issues also contain news items such as information on new materials and their processing.
